Bigger is not always better… The truth about larger hot tubs

Bigger Hot tubs are not always better

We are working with fire here folks, not electricity…

At Tickle Tubs, we’ve learned that the sweet spot for fire-heated hot tubs is 2–4 seats. While larger tubs do exist, the numbers simply don’t add up when it comes to heating times, efficiency, and real-world use. Here’s why:

Small Fish Large Bowl

✅ Efficient heating – A 450–500 litre tub reaches the perfect temperature in around 1.5–2 hours. Larger tubs can take 4–6 hours to heat, which means wasted wood, wasted time, and frustrated guests.

✅ Right-sized for real use – In lodges, Airbnbs, and private homes, we’ve seen that more than four people in a hot tub at once is a rare occasion. Heating up a massive tub for “just in case” moments doesn’t make sense.

✅ Lower running costs – Smaller tubs use less wood and retain heat more effectively, saving both effort and expense every time you light up.

✅ Better guest experience – Guests want to relax, not wait half a day for the water to be ready. A smaller tub guarantees quicker enjoyment and happier feedback.

When you weigh up the facts, the 2–4 seater fire-heated hot tub is the logical, efficient, and reliable choice—giving you the comfort of a larger model without the downsides.
